Dear participants,

Dear colleagues,

I am very sorry to advise that we have had to postpone the date for the
international Language Policy and Language Teaching conference "
Multilingualism in Society, the World of Work, and Politics. New
Challenges for Teaching at Institutes of Higher Education/Universities",
originally announced in October 2010, due to the forthcoming visit of
Pope Benedict XVI. At the time of the announcement we were,
unfortunately, not aware that the Pope would be coming to Freiburg, an
event which has had widespread consequences for the hotel business in
the region.

We have been informed that accommodation in the city of Freiburg and the
vicinity is fully booked out for the period from 17^th July to 4^th
October 2011. Those of you who have tried to find a hotel for the
duration of the conference can bear us out.

For this reason we have now set a new date for the conference: 18^th to
20^th April 2012. The topic of the conference as well as those of the
sections and podium discussion will remain unchanged. I will be
delighted if you can still participate in the conference despite the
change of date, and we hope very much that this will be the case.

Participants who have already registered for September will be contacted
by us separately. Abstracts that have already been submitted can be
reclaimed or left for the new date.

Should you still wish to submit an abstract for a presentation or a
poster, you may still do so. The deadlines for presentations is 31^st
January 2012; for posters it is 29^th February 2012 .

Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience caused. I sincerely hope
that you will understand our predicament in these very unusual
circumstances.

Both the SLI and the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Freiburg
look forward to welcoming you to the conference in April next year.
