This message is to announce the creation of a new group, the Translation Focus Group, proposed in April 2011 and accepted by the Executive Committee in May.

The group has been set up in order to attend to and reflect the needs and concerns of many CercleS members who work in the area of translation-service provision within university language services, with the express intention of catering to this sector’s specific interests. Our initial objective is to establish a dedicated panel for the London conference in 2012. Beyond this, we will also aim to identify and develop a range of professional issues such as best practices, inter-university terminology projects, the impact of ICT on our sector and—broadly—the mutual exchange of impressions and insights. 

We would welcome any members who work in this area and who would be interested in joining the group. A possible date for an initial face-to-face meeting of the group is November 12, 2011, at the Antonio de Nebrija university, Madrid, when the CercleS Focus Group meeing will be held. Virtual communication amongst the Translation Focus Group members will be facilitated by a wiki or similar 2.0 collaborative tool (to be confirmed).
